Pastor Stacy Scott

Crossway Church is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing church which began in Auburn around 1930. It is associated with the “Church of God” organization, established in 1880, whose executive offices are located in Anderson, Indiana. Through this association, we are cooperatively involved in a world-wide ministry of missions, higher education, literature publishing, radio and television, and evangelism. In addition to its work in the United States and Canada, the Church of God is ministering in over 85 countries around the world.

Our regional fellowship consists of 48 congregations located around the Pacific Northwest - with churches in Washington, Northern Idaho, and Northeast Oregon. Together this group of churches partners with Double K Retreat and Adventure Center, a camping facility located in Easton, Washington on Interstate 90.

Crossway is a close-knit fellowship, with a strong interest in expanding our church family community, as we reach out to the neighborhoods around us, and surrounding region. We are always delighted to see new faces, and have the chance to extend our welcome to those new ones.

We tend to place a strong emphasis upon ministering to the whole family while offering fellowship, social, and instructional opportunities for adult, youth, and children. Through Bible studies, social and recreational activities, we try to provide a well-balanced ministry environment.

The weekly worship gatherings are spirited and celebrative in nature, balanced with a strong sense of awe and reverence for the Lord. They contain a sense of warmth and inspiration for all. We believe worship is intended to be relational in nature, as together we engage and encounter a personal and loving God, looking for Him to become involved in life-altering ways.

The welcome mat is out. We’d be delighted if you chose to connect with the Crossway family. Build friendships, encounter shared-life experiences, and find greater meaning for your life as you discover a higher sense of purpose with God.

Priority Teachings and Convictions

When an individual or family inquiries about Crossway Church, that is one of the most often asked questions!

There are a few teachings that rise to the top as standard beliefs of the church. The following are convictions that represent for us foundational truths based upon The Bible. As you explore them, you will get to know us better.

The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, relevant and vital for all people, for all time. It stands as the basis for all Christian belief. It is given to reveal God to us, and to provide instruction for living. The Bible is truth. It is the Word of life, and is full of power. (II Timothy 3:16,17; Hebrews 4:12; John 17:17)

  1. GOD

There is only one true God who is creator of all things. He is Holy in nature, attributes, and purpose. He is expressed through the three persons of the Godhead - the trinity - consisting of God our Father, Jesus Christ our Savior, and the Holy Spirit. He is all knowing, all present, and all powerful. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19,20; John 1:1-14)

Jesus Christ is the full expression of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He is both divine and human, and God’s chosen Savior for all mankind. He is the supreme sacrifice for our sin, and the only way of salvation. Though He was crucified, He was resurrected and is the head of the church today.  (John 14:6; Matthew 1:18-21; Acts 4:12)

The Holy Spirit works to convict mankind of sin, and call all people to salvation. He dwells in the heart of every born again believer, to fill, to empower, to guide, to teach, and to equip for ministry and service. The Holy Spirit witnesses within the life of every believer, that he/she is truly a child of God.  (John 16:5-13; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 3:16)

The church is the body of Christ and Christ is the head of the church. It is comprised of all people who are born anew by accepting Jesus Christ as personal Savior. It is the called-out community of the redeemed, co-existing to worship God, proclaim Jesus Christ to the world, and to carry out the mission of God in the world today. (Colossians 1:15-24; I Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 1:22,23)

All humanity is born with a nature to sin, and are sinners. Salvation is the free gift of God, and cannot be earned or purchased by any other means. We are cleansed of our sin by placing our faith in Jesus alone, and thus, enter back into a right standing with our heavenly Father.  (Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:1; Romans 6:23)

It is the calling of all believers to strive to live holy lives in heart and in action. Holiness is the very nature and character of God. Through consistent yielding to the inner working of the Holy Spirit, we are in a continual process of cleansing. Striving for a holy life indicates the individual’s personal commitment to the will of God. (Leviticus 11:44; I Thessalonians 3:7; Titus 2:11-14)

The true church is composed of all redeemed persons, who through faith in Jesus Christ are united together in Him. All Christians are called to experience a common fellowship with every believer, regardless of race, creed, color, or culture. Children of God are to live in peace and harmony, transcending all human boundaries.  (I Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:2-6; Galatians 3:26-28)

The kingdom of God is spiritual in nature, and reigns in the hearts of those who know Jesus Christ as Savior. It is not a physical, earthly kingdom, for an earthly kingdom is not adequate for God. Entrance to God’s kingdom is gained through spiritual means, and is a present reality for all who are born again spiritually.  (Matthew 6:33; Colossians 1:13; John 3:3)

One day, in a time known only by God, Jesus Christ will personally, physically return to gather His bride - the church - both the living and the dead. He will bring final judgment upon mankind. The righteous through Christ will gain everlasting life in the presence of God. The unrighteous will be separated from God forever.   (John 14:3; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 24:36-44)

Until Jesus Christ returns, the clear mission of the church is to proclaim the good news of salvation to the world and make disciples of all who will receive God’s message. The believers life is to be poured out as a living witness to God’s power to transform lives. The Great Commission is the responsibility of every believer.   (Matthew 5:13-16; Matthew 28:19,20; Mark 16:15)

Stewardship deals with all of life - time, talent, and resource. When one becomes a Christian, God has claim on and control of all of his/her life. Christian stewardship or management, is utilizing all that God has given us in a responsible and productive manner. A good steward recognizes that all good gifts come from God. (I Corinthians 4:2; II Corinthians 5:10; James 1:17)

Divine healing is available through Jesus Christ. It is the miraculous manifestation of our creator’s power to restore health and wholeness - mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Whether instantaneous or gradual, healings do take place today as they did in Bible times. God honors the faith and prayer of believers in accordance with His will. (James 5:13-16; Mark 9:23; Mark 6:12,13
